In 2014, when we initially relocated to Katy, it was your typical quiet suburb where finding a restaurant open past 8 pm on weekdays was a challenge. Fast forward a decade, and Katy has transformed into Houston’s most rapidly expanding suburb, boasting some of the finest restaurants in America. As a foodie, I have wholeheartedly embraced this incredible transformation! 🍽️🤩
It brings me great pleasure to compile this Ultimate Guide to Katy area restaurants! Texas steakhouses to hole in the wall places, soft openings to food fests, we have tried them all. We have been dining out in Katy before Pappa Gyros started in a gas station along TX-99 Grand Parkway and Katy Asian Town didn’t even exist!
One of our quests on Live Love Katy is to explore the city’s changing culinary scene, share our recommendations, and help you plan your next meal out with our Katy Restaurant Guide! Use the links below to navigate through our guide.
Note – We continually update this list whenever we visit a place and if you don’t see a favorite – we simply haven’t been there yet! If you are a business who would like to be featured, contact us here.
Top 10 Best Restaurants in Katy
While new restaurants come all the time in Katy, some have held on to their loyal following by simply serving the best food every time. You cannot go wrong with choosing any of our top 10 picks for eating out! Please note, this list is based on our personal experience and preferences. These are our favorite restaurants in Katy, Texas!
Pappa Gyros
I have been a big Pappa Gyros fan since they opened their first location in a tiny space adjacent to a gas station less than 10 minutes from my home! It was our go to spot for dining and take-outs – I have even taken their gyro meat in a cooler to Atlanta for a Christmas family dinner! You can guess how mad I was when they moved 4 Texas-sized miles away to their new location.😔
Pappa Gyros has quite an interesting history – it has always served excellent food since it opened in 2017 but it quickly rose to fame after being cited on Yelp’s 2019 list of ‘Top 100 Places to Eat in the U.S.’
Brett’s BBQ Shop
The first time I came across the place that was Brett’s on Mason Road was almost a decade ago. At that time, it was Nonmacher’s BBQ – a local favorite since the 1980s. Nonmacher’s closed in 2018 and teh space was taken over by the now famous Brett’s BBQ.
Phat Eatery
Phat Eatery is a Malaysian restaurant located in Katy Asian Town.
Here’s an interesting tidbit – Phat Eatery will forever hold a special place in my heart. It was the first hot meal I enjoyed after enduring two days without power during the Great Freeze of 2021. Additionally, it marked the last stress-free meal I had before returning home to discover water pouring down from burst pipes, days filled with challenges!
Pearl & Vine
Pearl & Vine opened in Katy in 2021 and since then has become the go-to date night place for Katy couples.
Astor Farm to Table

Texas Road House
I feel this might be my one recommendation that not all Katy folks might agree with – but Texas Road House is the most underrated steakhouse in the Katy area!

Honorable Mention: Scholars and Scoundrels
Scholars and Scoundrels is one of my personal favorites that guarantees a delicious meal every time we visit.
Fan Favorite: That’s My Dog

Bonus: No Label Brewery
